God gave Abraham what Babel was trying to provide for themselves
Some people do still choose to [respond, submit, obey, trust]

the ultimate purpose of God's narrow focus on Abraham and his family is to bring redemptive blessing to all peoples

human initiative leads to disaster
divine initiative leads to blessing

this is our fight:
autonomy vs trust
"I know what is best" vs "you know what is best"

this is the struggle we can learn about from Abraham's family
1. God's commitment to His purpose
2. Breakdown of family relationships / reconciliation
3. God's faithfulness in whatever obstacle they face
