Eph 4:30

before we dive into this, lets build a foundation of who the Spirit is:

John 14:15-24

Not a true conditional statement but a declarative one. The inevitable result of loving Jesus is that we will care what he says and then do it.

How can he be certain? - because of the nature of Love (1 John 3:16). Selfless and for the other person's benefit:

  Love in marriage

  Love for one another

  Love of a parent

  Love for Christ

Love of Christ recognizes the Lordship of Christ in submission to his will...his will is that we live according to his commandments. If we love him we will obey him and he wants to make us more like him.

The commandments come from the hand of him who loved us first.

We love because He first loved us. He loves us and doesn't want us to stay as we were.

Captivity to sin leads to disobedience - Disobedience leads to consequence.

God was trying to help them. He has something better, more glorious, more satisfying, more God honoring.

(Mt 4:16, Rom 6:20)

Everything he commands will be a reflection of the life Jesus lived - he did it and asks us to do it - but not on our own

Sanctification comes through the Word (John 16:3) by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 17:17)
