Unchanging Helper

in Christ everything about us changes

old - new

enemy - friend

away - welcomed in

but He doesn’t change

He is and always has been For His people

promise of redemption - from the OT

path to redemption - the work of Christ

participation in redemption - help of the Holy Spirit

1 Peter 5:6-11

He still Cares

   wants us to turn to Him

   requires humility to see Him as the only source of help

   worry is so easy; anxiety is so prevalent

   what people will think of you, how you’ll make it through, what decision to make, whether or not you’re good enough

worry is a trap

you’re not in control, but if you think about it enough maybe you can find a way of fixing it

He knows the temptation to focus on yourself and your circumstances - makes your world very small

He stills Warns

   He knows the struggle and the consequences of trusting anything other than Him

   the way you handle difficulties shows the state of your Faith, grow now

   the world is broken, things aren’t right; there will be suffering, but your suffering can be a source of blessing if we trust Him

He still Helps:

Perfect (complete)

Confirm (confidence)

Strengthen (able to persevere)

Establish (firm, unwavering)
