Responsibility

Acts 17:11

The Bereans took responsibility for their own spiritual walk through 3 COMMITMENTS:

1] TO EAGERNESS

 * READINESS of mind

 * ANTICIPATION of something great

 * RECEIVED the Word (James 1:21)

2] TO EXAMINE SCRIPTURE DAILY

 * it becomes regular (familiar)

 * not starting from scratch every time but building on a consistent FOUNDATION

* Inconsistency brings fatigue as mediocrity, not progress, becomes the norm.

PRACTICAL

1. have a Bible

2. key in on individual words

3. ask questions…

4. talk about it with friends

5. pray it, use the Scripture to pray

3] TO KNOW TRUTH FROM LIES

 * the Doctrines of Christ do not fear inquiry

     - no one is trying to trick you 

 *too many young people have an addiction to superficial things and not enough conviction for SUBSTANTIAL things like Truth, Love, and Grace

 * fight lies with the ammunition of KNOWLEDGE
